#STOPSUCKING

Founders Adrian Grenier and Lucy Sumner and their NYC/Seattle/LA based Lonely Whale Foundation is dedicated to bringing people closer to the world’s oceans through education and awareness, inspiring empathy and action for ocean health and the wellbeing of marine wildlife.

In their own words (www.lonelywhale.org)

The Lonely Whale Foundation is dedicated to bringing people closer to the world’s oceans through education and awareness, inspiring empathy and action for ocean health and the wellbeing of marine wildlife.

Born out of the full length documentary, 52: The Search for the Loneliest Whale, the Lonely Whale Foundation was created to develop and support a community of ocean advocates through the champion of the Lonely Whale. Calling out at 52 Hz, the Lonely Whale sings at a frequency unrecognized by other whales leading us to believe it lives alone, calling out to no response. Through the story of our whale we are able to confront loneliness and connect with one another, ourselves, and our environment.

Dedicated to bringing people closer to the world’s oceans through education and awareness, inspiring empathy and action for ocean health and the wellbeing of marine wildlife.

Building the Healthiest Homes on the Planet

Doug Busch and the Malibu, California based pH Living team are building healthier homes for a healthier planet.

In their own words (www.phliving.us)

pH Living is a full service design/build group specializing in healthy and sustainable architecture, interior design, and construction services. Our team of LEED certified designers and environmental scientists collaborate to bring you custom, renovated, and ground-up construction of healthy homes with contemporary design—scientifically tested and certified to meet the only healthy home standard developed by the International Institute for Building Biology and Ecology, (IBE).

One of the unique aspects of pH Living is that we are architects, designers, contractors and scientists with over 40 years of combined knowledge and expertise—providing a unique perspective from many different fields, in order to offer the best solutions for each project, with a single source of responsibility from project start to completion.

So whether you are looking for a full home makeover, or a new home built from the ground up, our pH Living team offers an array of services and construction methods that provide the healthiest housing solutions—building healthier homes and a healthier planet.

pH Living was founded on the principles of healthy design and sustainable building practices. Founders Doug Busch, Michael Francis, and Larry Gust created pH Living with the goal of providing homes for people who suffer from environmental allergies and chemical sensitivities, a growing health problem that afflicts over 7 million people nationwide.

Through extensive research and scientific testing, we discovered that the technology exists for us to design, build and renovate healthier homes for everyone. We also recognized the rising need for all people to have access to healthy homes produced without harmful toxins, with higher quality construction methods, sustainable building practices, and great design. These discoveries have inspired our pH Living team in our continued mission to be the leading provider of the world’s healthiest housing. We are committed to and driven by the belief that we can help change lives and our planet one square foot at a time.

Silenced by “free speech”

There’s a fundamental incongruency between being pro ‘free speech’ and operating a global social network for civil public discussion. Twitter is struggling with it. Facebook is struggling with it too. And it can’t be solved by a little more transparency or by hoping average citizens will do the right thing. The principle of free speech on which the United States was… Read More

The end of oversharing

The early 2000s were the era of user-generated content. Companies like Associated Content and Shareasale rewarded content producers richly – one friend of mine made millions on YouTube in 2004 because he was one of the few serial content producers on the platform. The future was going to be broadcast in all of its gritty glory. Bloggers would win forever and ever. The voices of the… Read More

Mobile phone companies appear to be providing your number and location to anyone who pays

You may remember that last year, Verizon was punished by the FCC for injecting information into its subscribers’ traffic that allowed them to be tracked without their consent. That practice appears to be alive and well despite being disallowed in a ruling last March: companies appear to be able to request your number, location, and other details from your mobile provider quite easily.
