Signal’s Moxie Marlinspike calls out Pavel Durov’s ‘Trump logic’

Onstage at TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2017, Signal’s at times elusive privacy revolutionary Moxie Marlinspike spoke modestly about how his secure text message app is taking over the world. Marlinspike directly addressed the controversy that Telegram Messenger founder Pavel Durov stirred up earlier this year when he basically accused Signal of collaborating with the U.S. government. Summer ’17 – A seismic shift for gender diversity in tech

We may look back on the summer of 2017 as a watershed moment for gender diversity: the lava of simmering issues erupts, and once out, flows to reshape the landscape. However, what happened this summer to tech giants like Uber and Google is merely a symptom of a gradual change in a shifting landscape, that little-by-little has led to people taking notice of a personal blog from a female… Read More

Odis brings Alexa voice commands to music production

The home studio has arguably revolutionized the music industry more than any other single element. Sessions that once required devoted space and tens of thousands of dollars can now be recorded solo in the comfort of one’s own home. SpeechCoach.ai helps you step up your public speaking game

Public speaking can be terrifying. Before every TechCrunch Disrupt, moderators are required to go through mandatory speaker training to ensure we’re not flaming disasters on stage. Our bosses bring in a real-life human to train us and point out how often we use filler words or simply don’t make any sense at all.
SpeechCoach.ai, a project that came out of Disrupt SF 2017’s… Read More

Spreading Aloha Far and Wide, One Cookie at a Time

In their own words (source – https://www.themauicookielady.com)

The Maui Cookie Lady (MCL), founded by Mitzi Toro, is a distinctive brand of premium, home-baked gourmet cookies that feature an array of Hawaiian flavors.

Originally starting as a fundraiser at a local farmers market on the island of Maui, MCL cookies are now proudly featured at top hotels & resorts and other high-quality artisan markets. Popular flavors include Kona Coffee Espresso using Peaberry Beans, Pineapple Lychee Passion with Hibiscus Flowers, White Tea and Lemon Chocolate, Mango, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, Grown-Up Samoas (made with Maui Brewing Co.’s Coconut Porter craft beer), Butterscotch Kisses (made with Sammy Hagar’s Maui Distilled Macadamia Nut Rum) and our Original Butter Rum Triple Chunker.

At MCL, we aspire to be the an artisan island cookie company from Maui that will grow to achieve international distinction and are building distribution channels to achieve that dream.

Inspiration

A long-time cookie enthusiast, our founder, Mitzi Toro began baking delicious cookies in 2012 as a fundraiser to thank the nurses at Maui Memorial Hospital for taking such phenomenal care of her terminally-ill father. After raising funds for these dedicated nurses for a few months at a local farmers market, Mitzi was encouraged to transform her cookie fundraiser into a business by her regular customers who came to immensely love her delicious product.

Thus, the Maui Cookie Lady cookie company was born. After building her own commercial kitchen and officially beginning their made-on-Maui cookie production line, the company quickly garnered fans from as far away as the UK, Japan and even Dubai!

Our little island boutique bakery continues to gain loyal customers due to our creative, drool-worthy flavor combinations and our proud use of only the highest-quality ingredients in our tasty products.

The Maui Cookie Lady takes orders on-line and they ship to just about anywhere: www.themauicookielady.com/collections/all
