#OUREntrepidNetwork – Introducing Boyan Slat and The Ocean Cleanup

www.theoceancleanup.com

The Ocean Cleanup’s mission is to develop advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic.

In their own words (source – https://www.linkedin.com/company/2836723/)

Boyan Slat is a Dutch inventor and entrepreneur creating technologies to solve societal problems. He is the founder and CEO of The Ocean Cleanup, which develops advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. Boyan founded this effort when he was just 16 years old.

The main idea behind The Ocean Cleanup is to let the ocean currents do the work. An installation of Ushaped screens channels floating plastic to a central point. The concentrated plastic can then be extracted and shipped to shore for recycling into durable products. Our passive systems will remove half the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 5 years.
