South Park trolled Amazon Echo owners in the best way possible

This is one of the minor dangers of owning an Amazon Echo. Most anyone can activate the device by just saying the wake word including Cartman. And in the season opener of South Park, that’s exactly what happened. Watch. Interview: Apple’s Craig Federighi answers some burning questions about Face ID

To get some answers, I hopped on the phone with Apple’s SVP of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi. We went through a bunch of the common concerns in rapid fire fashion, and I’ve also been asking around and listening to Apple folks who have been using the feature over long periods. Hopefully we can clear up some of the FUD about it.

Original Content investigates the mysteries of Netflix’s ‘American Vandal’

american vandal American Vandal takes the investigative approach of shows like Making a Murderer and applies it to something a little less serious — not a murder, but the spraypainting of dicks on teachers’ cars at a fictional California high school. Yes, it’s a Netflix parody of a Netflix show (among other things). The snake eats its own tail! American Vandaal was created by Tony Yacenda… Read More

Tesla files patent for mobile battery swapping rig

Tesla is still exploring options to make swapping vehicle battery packs easier and faster. This patent filed in May reveals one option that would allow technicians to change out packs in less than 15 minutes. This isn’t the first of such ideas. Back in 2014 Tesla briefly played with an automated system that swapped Model S battery packs in less than 90 seconds. That idea seemed to be… Read More

Innovative Tableware from Plants, Not Oil

Repurpose® founder & CEO Lauren Gropper is said to have dreamed about creating an everyday product that could impact millions of people. And we think she and her team have done just that.

In their own words (source – https://www.linkedin.com/company/777024/)

Repurpose was founded in 2010 by a group of eco-entrepreneurs driven to positively impact the environment by changing everyday behavior. Realizing the devastating effect single-use plastics were having on the environment and the fact that no alternatives existed for the consumer, Repurpose decided to manufacture its own. Repurpose, a line of sustainable tableware that looks out for the health of you, your family, and the planet, was born. Our mission is to reduce the amount of plastics in our environment and offer guilt-free, renewable alternatives. By purchasing from Repurpose, consumers support a woman-owned, sustainable company that is changing the world—one cup, fork and plate at a time.

Social Capital to take startups public without an IPO

Silicon Valley venture firm Social Capital just completed the first step in its mission to take startups public without the IPO. Essential Phone is getting a ‘high-end’ audio accessory with a headphone jack

While plenty of smartphone features have been sunsetted on the way to thinner profiles and sexier bezels, none have garnered the ire of consumers quite as much as the removal of the aged and distinguished 3.5mm headphone jack.
Apple was early to axe the port, and while Andy Rubin’s Essential followed suit, a lot of consumers took issue with the move. Essential seems to be taking those… Read More
